Phethelo obtained his LLB from the University of Pretoria in 2015.

He did his articles of clerkship at Singwane & Partners Incorporated and was admitted as an Attorney in 2018. During his articles, he specialised in family matters and handled all of the Regional Court litigation for divorces, maintenance, and trusts. He then continued to expand as an Attorney by specialising in Municipal Billing disputes in the Johannesburg area, along with disputes focused on labour matters.

He then joined Blakes Maphanga Attorneys Inc. in July of 2020 as a Director and part of the Debt Collection and Litigation team and continued to specialise in Family, Labour, and Billing matters.

He established Fakude & Associates in May of 2023 in Sandton, Johannesburg and expanded to Nelspruit, Mpumalanga soon after.
